At Selby Tiger Sharks, squads are based on ability and performance, with swimmers challenged and supported to reach their potential. Progression is encouraged, with coaches reviewing results, attitude, and commitment. Lane placements are set through quarterly time trials. Junior Plus and Senior swimmers compete regularly in Swim England events. All members take part in our annual galas, and we hold an annual awards evening to recognise achievement and team spirit.
Our Development Squad train on Sunday afternoons and provides an ideal introduction to structured club training. This squad focuses on developing technique, confidence, and a love of the sport, while preparing swimmers for progression into our competitive pathway.
The entry level to our competitive programme is Club Junior, who train once a week on Sunday afternoons. Swimmers in this squad will begin taking part in competitive galas as they continue to develop and perfect their swimming technique and strokes.
From Club Junior, swimmers may progress to Junior Plus, training twice weekly on Monday and Thursday evenings, with the opportunity to attend land training sessions on Wednesday evenings.
Our Senior Squad trains on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays and are expected to attend weekly land training sessions, on Wednesday evenings, as part of their programme. They also swim alternate Wednesday evenings in addition to land training.
